Café Barista (Full-Time & Part-Time)

Please know the café is expected to open in late spring/early summer 2024

Baristas must demonstrate a passion for coffee, be dedicated to delivering exceptional service, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Baristas will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages and food items, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the café, while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages, including espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, and specialty drinks, according to established recipes and standards.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of food items to the established recipes and standards.
  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment with precision and efficiency.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing recommendations, taking orders accurately, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Handle cash transactions and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the café, including the preparation area, equipment, and dining areas.
  • Restock supplies, ingredients, and merchandise as needed and assist with inventory management.
  • Follow safety and health regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations and contribute to a positive work environment.

  • Ability to multi-task with ease.

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk—must be able to stand for shifts and move about the cafe.
  • Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso machinery.
  • Taste/Smell – ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee.
  • Communicate effectively with customers.
  • Carry weight, lift – lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
