Pink

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

The Giro is over. Basso is back. 21 great days of racing. Todays stage finished at the Coliseum in Verona. This arena is over 2000 years old and the third largest in the world. Formerly home to gladiator battles and that whole lion and christian thing. I guess in a sense, Basso is a modern day gladiator. Long live Basso!

Strawberry Alarm Clock has arrived on the west coast

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

You may be thinking “Incense and Peppermints” right now, but we’re talking about the new microlot Costa Ricas.

The Costa Rica microlots have finally arrived at the warehouse.  We bought two of them, and they are amazing coffees.  The first, “La Pira” natural, will be at the roastery next week and should be available for your order the week of June 7th.  We have a few preliminary tasting notes: “strawberry fields, wild berry and graham fragrance; tropical fruit, dried blueberry, fruit loops flavor; a wild a fruity natural, sweet with good acidity and body.”

It comes from the family farm of Carlos Ureña in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica.

Honeymoon for Ben

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Many of you know Ben Tobin through his great photography, while others know him through riding bikes. We’ve had the good fortune of getting to know Ben through work, play, shoveling dirt on bike jumps, girlfriends, mutual friends, coffee, beer, hippies and vege burgers! He’s also taught the kids some interesting combinations of dirty words. For Ben, it’s all in a days work. And thats why we love him. Speaking of love, here is his latest. He had to have her made, which will probably be a better thing in the long run. If you’re wondering about how cool a bike Glen at Elephant can build, feast your eyes on this.

I wanted to post this before Jim found out and deleted the picture. I’m worried about a payback. Needless to say, he was rocking the La Marzocco paddle all morning long.

DOMA coffee bean chaff is being utilized at the Shared Harvest Community Garden Compost and also at the Roots CSA Compost. Sweet!!!!

Thanks a bunch for donating the coffee bags for the Roots Pursuit event.

Pop-Up Over and Out

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Yes, please. What a great Saturday. David, Erika and Lydia rocked the Pop-Up. It was an excellent turn out and a beautiful morning to go with it. Unofficial count was 91 breakfasts with a handful of folks just coming by for coffee. Wow. It certainly shows the possibilities, doesn’t it? Oh yeah, the food and coffee were awesome.

Thanks everybody.
